Circles® Lexington County has a goal to reduce the poverty rate in Lexington County by 10% within 10 years. Research conducted by Rensselaer Polytechnic College supports the cumulative impact of reaching this “tipping point” as it results in trends bending towards the eventual elimination of poverty.
Currently, there are over 37,000 individuals living at or below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) in our county. Empowering 3,700 people to increase their yearly income to 200% of the FPL over the next decade would not only help those individuals to thrive, but would also allow the county to position itself at this pivotal “tipping point” where a more cumulative reduction in poverty would be experienced.
The Circles® model has garnered national attention and has been implemented by many well-known organizations such as United Way, Goodwill, United Methodist Church, Lutheran Social Services, Community Action Partnerships, and Catholic Charities. It has also been adapted by community colleges, housing corporations, workforce development centers, human service systems, community neighborhood centers, and hospitals
Circles® Lexington County is excited to partner with Circles® USA in working to eliminate poverty in our backyard. We are dedicated to creating a stronger community for all of our friends and neighbors. Community matters. We truly believe we are better together. We invite YOU to become a part of Circles ® Lexington County.
